Teens praised for helping elderly couple
2:30pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
Teenagers have been praised after coming to the aid of an elderly couple.
A woman in her 80s realised she had a flat tyre after visiting a flower show in Coggeshall last Saturday at about 4.15pm.
She was with her disabled husband waiting outside St Peter ad Vincula Church when a group of five teenagers approached her.
Eric Pope, 81, who is a friend of the couple, had been waiting with them after calling the AA.
Mr Pope of Whitecourt, Black Notley, said: “About five teenagers came by and noticed this flat tyre.
“They knocked on the window and said would you like us to change the wheel for you.
“They were so young I couldn’t believe it.
“I was so impressed by the nature of these young people.
“They were so well mannered.”
A 19-year-old boy from Coggeshall changed the tyre and the couple rang the AA back to cancel the call out.
Were you the 19-year-old who came to the rescue?
