Witham: Tributes to former John Bramston head Ted Rowley

Tributes have been paid to a former John Bramston headteacher who oversaw thousands of pupils’ education.

Ted Rowley, who lead the Witham school for 17 years until 2007, died last Wednesday following a battle with cancer.

The 62-year-old, who was living in Stoke by Clare, Suffolk, had continued teaching Maths near his holiday home in Italy after retiring from the school which is now called Maltings Academy.

Vice principal Mike Gee worked with Mr Rowley for more than ten years and said: “I think it could be said that Ted always had at heart the best interests of the students of Witham."
