Watford teenager set to bolster Braintree's strike force

Braintree Town are set to take Watford teenager Brit Assombalonga on loan for a month.

The 19-year-old striker has just extended his contract with the Hornets and is now joining the Iron on a month-long youth loan until March 10, after completing a successful loan spell at Wealdstone.

He said: “The coaches back at Watford have been really pleased with me.

“I’ve had positive comments from them and I take all their feedback on board.

“They tell me to keep pushing on and do well so I try to do my best every time – which is what I’m going to try to do now at Braintree.”

Assombalonga comes into Iron boss Alan Devonshire’s squad ahead of their home game in the Blue Square Bet Premier against Southport on Saturday.
